CD Projekt Red has announced that it’s devoting the bulk of its development efforts to the new The Witcher. Having completed the final stages of Cyberpunk 2077, the company has shifted its resources to its next big project, The Witcher 4: Polaris.
The Witcher 4: Polaris development accelerates
In its latest financial report, the Polish studio touched on its work. CD Projekt shared an update on the status of its current projects and said that it has more than 600 developers. More than 400 of them are assigned to the next Witcher game, codenamed Polaris.
This represents a significant increase compared to just a few months ago. Back in November, CD Projekt announced that almost half of its developers were focused on Polaris. The latest figures show that the Witcher 4 team has reached more than 64 percent of the total developers.
CD Projekt confirmed that most of the team working on Cyberpunk 2077 has moved on to The Witcher 4. This indicates that the studio is moving on to the next phase of development for the new Witcher game. Another big game on the company’s roadmap is likely to be Polaris.
While details about Polaris are not yet known, it is being developed using Unreal Engine 5. It will also aim to exceed the depth and story scope of previous Witcher games. CD Projekt said that the project is still in pre-production, with a release window of late 2025 at the earliest.
